Mono Lake

This lake is located on US 395 between Reno and Bishop. It’s actually just east of Yosemite. At 760,000 years old, it’s one of the oldest lakes in the country. There’s no outlet for the water, so the minerals are left when the water evaporates. It’s this high mineral content that creates the interesting forms. The only thing that can live in the water are Brine Shrimp.
